10 Tips To Styling Your Bridal Look

Do you search and swoon over brides on Instagram and wish your bridal look could be just as glamorous and elegant?

So without further ado, here are my top tips on how to style your bridal look!

1. START WITH YOUR STATEMENT/FOCAL PIECE

It’s always really great to choose an accessory to be your statement or focal piece. This will be the piece you decide on first and then work everything else around. Every brides statement piece will vary in the true meaning of the word ‘statement’ as it depends on your gown, your taste and your comfort zone. This could be a bold headpiece/headband/crown, fabulous earrings, a chunky cuff or even a stunning necklace.

TIP – If budget is a concern, spend most of your budget on your statement piece and pull back to compliment.

2. HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR HAIR ACCESSORIES

With such a plethora of choice out there for hair accessories it can be hard to know where to start. Don’t be overwhelmed, a hair accessory is a must have, it’s just all about finding the right one.

Firstly, how are you wearing your hair? This will have a huge impact on what you choose. Wearing your hair down in relaxed lush curls would lend itself to a crownheadbandhair vineside hair piece/comb or even a simple barrette. An all up-style would look gorgeous with a crown, a smaller headband, hair vine or headpiece/comb. A half up-style would be gorgeous with a combheadpiece, hair vine or simple hair pin.

TIP – Not sure what hair style to go with? Consider what hair style suits you best, work with whatever most complements your features.

Your dress will also have an impact on your hair accessories. If your dress is heavily embellished you may want to take it easy and let your hair style do most of the work. If your dress is very plain, why not go for a gorgeous bold crownheadband or headpiece.

TIP – Remember guests (and photographers) will see you on all angles. When you start walking down the aisle your front is the feature, as you pass people down the aisle and stand at the front, it’s all about your back. When you turn to say your vows your side will be the focus.

3. MIX BORROWED WITH NEW

It can be truly memorable wearing a family heirloom for your wedding day. It might be something like a veil, broochnecklacebracelet or earrings. But trying to work out how to make it match both in design and colouring can be tricky. This is where bespoke jewellery can be the perfect option. Choosing the plating colour, pearl or crystal colours that will best match and even tweaking a design or making from scratch becomes ideal and often a must. Allowing you to bring two worlds into one.

4. GO BOLD!!!

Your wedding day is the perfect day to go all out, if not now then when? This doesn’t mean you go crazy and throw good taste out the window, it simply means go bolder than you normally would. You need to consider that your gown will be spectacular, your hair will likely be bigger and more glamorous than usual and makeup heavier and polished. You don’t want your accessories to get lost which then makes sense to step your accessories up a notch. You want everything to work in harmony and to love your wedding photos for a lifetime to come with no regrets.

TIP – Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone.

5. ACCESSORISE TO YOUR DRESS

Always start with your dress. It may mean that your gown is simple and so your jewels will be stealing the show. Alternatively, your gown may be heavily embellished and so your statement is in the dress and your accessories need to be more understated. Let your gown dictate the direction you go.

6. WHEN TO WEAR A NECKLACE…

Necklaces are very popular at the moment but when is the right time to wear one? The more skin you have exposed on your decolletage the more you should consider one. A strapless dress or off the shoulder gowns are perfect examples when you could absolutely wear one. V-necks are also a great one to consider. If you have a deep V, a necklace looks incredibly beautiful.

7. BUY QUALITY OVER QUANTITY

Some brides make the mistake thinking they have to have it all, the earrings, a necklace, a bracelet and certainly can’t forget the hair accessories. What they often end up doing is compromising quality just so they can tick the boxes and remain in budget. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for cutting costs especially when planning a wedding but instead spend your entire budget on the best 2 or 3 pieces you can afford.

By purchasing quality pieces you keep wearing them again and again for many special functions to come. Consider them an investment.

8. STRUGGLING TO STYLE? JUST ASK FOR HELP

Styling is not everyone’s area of expertise and when it comes to your bridal accessories you want to get this right. If this is you, just ask for help. Shopping in store is often not an option but it can also be hard to choose pieces without seeing and trying first.

We offer a styling service for our customers where we collaborate together using your theme/ideas/gown and we create your gorgeous bridal look together. We can offer a variety of options and ensure your pieces will match perfectly giving you the virtual experience of shopping in store.

9. DON’T BE AFRAID TO ADD SOME COLOUR

If colour is your thing don’t be afraid to use some, let it trickle through. We love customising our bespoke collection to suit our customers specifications. Change the crystal and/or pearl colour with the plating colour of your choice. Match your non white or ivory colour palette, add that something blue or even add a splash of the bridesmaid colour through. Let your personality come to life on the finer details.

10. BE ORGANISED

Time can give you the flexibility to get exactly what you want. Leaving things to the last minute doesn’t allow any room for delays. Items may be out of stock, shipping may take longer than expected, alternatively bespoke pieces take time to make. What you don’t want is compromising on the pieces that you really want and settling for something that you don’t love or is twice the price.
